About Us

The City of Markham has approved a plan to partner with Owner/Operator Karl Hale to erect two, three court domes over The Markham Tennis Club currently operating as a community outdoor summer club. This exciting announcement will bring year round tennis to the residents of the City of Markham and York Region at large.  The club will also feature Pickleball, one of the fastest growing sports in the world, with instructional clinics, leagues, drop in play and tournaments.

Our Club Vision

We will be a member focussed club with an overriding sense of community and belonging by providing first class social, instructional, competitive, and recreational experiences. We achieve this through our Five Agreements: Be welcoming, Listen with care, Learn from failure, Celebrate success, and Make excellence a habit every day.

Our Mission Statement

Our mission is to “Improve Lives Through Racquet Sports”. We work with passion and integrity, and we always treat others with appreciation and respect. We are a diverse community committed to being better today than we were yesterday, and better tomorrow than we were today.

The Members

To provide a club for our members and their guests to enjoy, learn, compete, and improve their tennis skills. We will foster a friendly atmosphere with open communication, outstanding value, and dedicated professionals.

The Staff

The club is committed to providing an unequalled level of service to our members. To do this we commit to developing our people, providing a safe, yet challenging workplace, and encouraging everyone to contribute to the Club’s success. Our team approach will be based on pride, dedication, initiative, respect, inclusiveness, and appreciation of members and staff alike.

Ownership

Ownership will commit to earning the respect and confidence of both Members and Staff by living up to the Vision and Mission Statements and also seeking ways give back to the community by providing the opportunity to learn and enjoy the great game of tennis.

Values

We value:

  1. Honesty and integrity in our relationships – Developing trust and confidence that we will look after our members’ best interests is central to who we are.

  2. Promoting community, harmony, and inclusiveness with our members and staff – We treat our members and staff like family.

  3. Empowering people to reach their potential – Personal growth is a thing to be celebrated and championed.

  4. Appreciation of those we have the privilege to interact with – An understanding that we are fortunate to have the privilege is essential to keeping us firmly grounded and humble.

  5. Being a contributing member of the local community – Providing community members with great service, the opportunity to pursue personal goals (fitness and sport related), giving back through service to the community (charitable causes), and providing employment opportunities, will demonstrate our commitment to this ideal.

  6. Growing the sport of tennis – locally & overall.
